Vice-rector for academic affairs

The Vice-rector for Academic Affairs is responsible for the higher education (Bachelor and Master) and continuing vocational and lifelong learning programmes offered at the University of Luxembourg.

Her mission is to advance quality and innovation in learning and teaching at the University, by:

  • Supporting the University community to discover and exploit better ways to learn and teach;
  • Guaranteeing a user-friendly, state-of-the-art infrastructure for the effective delivery of the University's study programmes;
  • Involving faculty and students in strategic initiatives for digitally enhanced, competence oriented learning and teaching;
  • Watching over the integrity of the University's academic policies and the effective administration of student records across the entire student lifecycle;
  • Promoting student participation in University governance at all levels and sponsoring projects for a vibrant academic community at the University of Luxembourg.

The Vice-rector for Academic Affairs chairs the Student department (Service des Études et de la Vie Étudiante - SEVE), the Luxembourg Learning Centre as well as the Language Centre.

In September 2019, Professor Catherine Léglu took office as the Vice-Rector for academic affairs of the University of Luxembourg.

The office of the Vice-rector for Academic Affairs is structured and operates as follows: 

  • Grégory Dubost coordinates student services (registration, housing and mobility, health and well-being, student participation and student life, counselling services) as head of the Student Department;
  • Jan Zutavern manages the activities cluster "Educational development and quality assurance” (curriculum and education, teaching, transversal skills, programme review and accreditation, feedback and evaluation, monitoring and analysis).
  • Véronique Schaff is the personal assistant to the Vice-rector.

In addition to the above, Prof. Jean-Luc Bueb, currently course director of the Bachelor en sciences de la vie at the FSTM, has been appointed Special Advisor on Quality to the office of the Vice-Rector, effective as at 1 April 2019. His mission is to prepare the evaluation of the University’s teaching programmes planned for 2020.
