Abstract: Software is recognized as one of the most complex products of human creativity. Part art, part engineering, it requires efforts within the frameworks of both engineering practices and liberal arts related considerations. In this talk we will expose problems of software quality assurance with paying attention to both its manifestations.
We analyze benefits and drawbacks of static and dynamic methods of software quality verification and introduce approaches developed in the Dept. of Computer Systems & Software Engineering of St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University including a system for software errors detection based on source code static analysis and educational practices of software
testing.
Evgeny Pyshkin discusses programming teaching as a specific interdisciplinary area of higher education. She also presents a discourse on how investigating software connections to fine arts might be useful in order to evaluate software quality and its aesthetic properties.
