For new students, starting life on the campus is at the same time exciting and intimidating. The Welcome Day helps them find their way, get the information they need and meet their peers.

Finding classrooms, choosing between student activities, knowing where to have lunch, rent a book or meet people … These are just a few of the burning questions that occupy newly arrived students.

Many students spend much time and attention choosing their University and the annual Welcome Day ensures that they immediately feel at ease on their campus and eager to start life at the University.

At the Welcome Day 2018, close to 1.200 visitors, mainly new Bachelor, Master and PhD students, were welcomed with the traditional breakfast and a Welcome pack containing useful items, information leaflets and gifts. On information stands, staff members, student volunteers and associations discussed activities and practical information with visitors, while the information sessions included a personal welcome by the rector, Prof. Stéphane Pallage, the vice-rector for academic affairs Prof. Romain Martin and the mayors of Esch-sur-Alzette and Sanem, George Mischo and George Engel.

After a well-deserved barbecue at lunch, the afternoon was dedicated to games and challenges at the Incubator of the University, during which they discovered the University’s Entrepreneurship program and services of the incubator. During guided tours, visitors had the opportunity to discover two brandnew buildings, the Maison des Arts et des Étudiants, dedicated to student activities, and the Luxembourg Learning Centre.

To all new students, the University extends a warm welcome and wishes you a wonderful time on campus!
