“Let’s Go Green together” – that’s the motto of the Luxembourg Pavilion at the World Future of Energy Summit from 17-21 January in Abu Dhabi. The University will be on site to promote Energy research made in Luxembourg. The University was invited to participate at the common exhibition stand, which has been organised by the Luxembourg Ministry of Economics and Foreign Trade and represents several Luxembourg companies and two research institutions. Prof. Paul Heuschling, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication, and Ms. Berta Rato, Research Facilitator, will be on site to promote the University research to such eminent visitors as the Hereditary Grand Duke, Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber - Managing Director and CEO of the MASDAR company, the Princess of Sweden and several Prime Ministers. Energy research made at the University of Luxembourg is multifaceted and offers sustainable solutions for some of the world’s most urgent problems. The University’s Research Unit on Physics and Materials contributes to energy research with the Laboratory of Photovoltaics (TDK Chair), showing results on new methods and new compositions for the production of thin film solar cells. Finally, the Research Unit on Computer Sciences and Communication presents the GreenIT project – a holistic autonomic energy-efficient solution to manage, provide and administer the various resources of Cloud-computing data/High Performance Computing centers. The World Future Energy Summit (WFES) is the world’s most important annual meeting for the renewable energy and environment industry.
