New Masters in European Law
Publié le mardi 05 avril 2011
The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance now offers three distinct Master programmes focusing on European law: the Master en Droit européen LL.M, the Master en Droit économique européen LL.M.and the Master en Droit financier européen et international LL.M. Each Master is a two-year programme, which can either be followed in its entirety or only in the second year. The second year of each Master is made up of two specialisations. Current specialisations include general European Law, European Litigation, European Economic and Financial Criminal Law, European Banking and Financial Law. New specialisations will include European and International Tax Law, as well as an option on UCITS (Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities) and in the future European Private Law and an option on Media and Electronic Communications Law. Due to the long European tradition of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the proximity of several European institutions such as the Court of Justice, the European Investment Bank, the European Investment Fund and the European Court of Auditors, as well as Luxembourg’s financial centre, the University of Luxembourg's Master programmes in European Law are strongly oriented towards European, transnational and comparative law. The introduction of these programmes will prepare future students to serve as leaders in their chosen field of legal expertise and offer them the necessary academic background to excel in their future legal profession. Students will develop high-level research skills, which may lead to PhD studies but also benefit from “real-life” applications of their acquired knowledge, as for example, via their participation in Moot Court competitions. In several specialisations students are required to follow an internship. The teaching body consists of highly qualified professors from the University of Luxembourg and visiting professors from other Universities, as well as professionals from the European Institutions. The cost for students is 200 Euros per semester. Most of the programmes are taught in both French and English. International exchange students can choose from a variety of classes taught in English in order to design their semester of studies in Luxembourg.
