Grand opening of Master in Learning and Development in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts

Students from 26 countries unit in their scientific exploration of learning and development in the age of diversity. The forth year of the Master's program "Learning and Development in Multicultural and Multilingual Contexts" opens the academic year 2010/11 on October 7, 7 PM with a welcoming event at the University's Campus Walferdange. Out of more than 200 pre-inscriptions to the MA multi-LEARN, 35 students from 26 countries have been selected, taking up their journey into the heart of research on multiculturalism, diversity and the impact of multilingualism on learning and development in our societies of the 21st century. Studying, developing and living "Learning and development in multilingual and multicultural contexts", this group joins the more experienced peers and alumni, having already succesfully completed mentoring processes, profile-bound internships, international research symposia, scientific conferences, electronically supported collaborative learning and public poster presentation on their applied research projects. Representing a hot topic in current research affairs, the trilingual, bi-annual Master program units again 24 women and 11 men, from 21 to 42 years of age along the common interest on how to best set-up, analyze and implement learning and development in a diversified world. This being an urgent concern in development research, socio-political approaches - and growingly - in the domain of finance and the economics of human resources, the focus of the MA multi-LEARN is internationally acknowledged and closely responds to the students' needs and interests. The grand-opening on Thursday, October 7, 7PM will bring together 1st and 2nd year students as well alumni who have recently completed their degree at the University of Luxembourg. The welcoming event has become a tradition within the MA programme uniting students, researchers, interessees and supporters of the programme beyond the grounds of course assignments and teaching duties.
