Supporting Students

The mental health of university students is the focus of increasing concern, with evidence suggesting large numbers of undergraduate and postgraduate students are experiencing poor mental health. Academic and support services staff are increasingly having to respond to and support students experiencing high levels of serious mental illness, including suicidal ideation, self-harm and episodes of psychosis.

Given the negative consequences that poor mental health can have for academic learning, creativity and problem solving, it is important that we as university staff support and promote the engagement and positive wellbeing of all our students.

The following ‘How To’ guides have been developed by the SEVE Student Services team as a reference point and guide for university academic and support staff. We will continue to add resources to guide and support staff over time.

If you have specific topics you would like to have included in this resource please contact
