Doctoral School in Economics, Finance and Management (DSEFM)

The doctoral programme in Business Administration focuses on quantitative and qualitative research in the fields of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Accounting and Audit.

It targets students holding a Master or Diploma in Economics, Finance, Econometrics, Management, Business Administration with a strong quantitative or qualitative background, and/or Master in Math, Physics, Engineering, Social Sciences and Quantitative/Qualitative Sciences (min 120 ECTS). Preferably a research track.

The programme's objective is for students to develop research expertise in one of the following areas:

  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation: economics, management and policy; context and process in entrepreneurial endeavors; ethical and sustainable business models, responsible entrepreneurship, innovation networks and start-up innovation behaviour, new product development and growth, intellectual property rights etc
  • Accounting and audit: analysis of managerial and financial accounting, the role of auditing, and the effect of regulatory interventions in the context of financial accounting and auditing.

 

Admission Requirements

To be able to enroll for the programme in Business Administration we request the following:

  1. Holding a Master or Diploma in Economics, Finance, Econometrics, Management, Business Administration with a strong quantitative or qualitative background ; alternatively, a Master’s degree in  Math, Physics, Engineering or Social Sciences (sociology, psychology, etc.) can be considered.
  2. Research project
  3. PhD supervisor at DSEFM
  4. Funding
  5. Motivation letter
  6. Two reference letters

Documents to provide

Forms required for your application as a PhD at the DSEFM:

  1. Curriculum Vitae
  2. Motivation letter (1 page)
  3. Research project (2 pages)
  4. Reference letters
  5. Transcript/certificate of all master studies (including Research Master or similar)
  6. Proof of funding (e.g. email FNR, University, or other)
  7. Proof of PhD supervisor at DSEFM (e.g. email from supervisor)

All of these forms need to be sent by email in a unique pdf file to dsefm@uni.lu, other formats will not be taken in account. No application fees are charged. Please do not inquire about the status of pending applications, unless you have offers from other universities.

The DSEFM has adopted a selection policy for the admission of PhD students, which is based on explicit and transparent criteria that preclude any form of discrimination.
