Doctoral Training
Different types of training courses are offered to doctoral candidates. In these training courses, doctoral candidates can expect to:
- Acquire in-depth knowledge in their field of expertise;
- Receive training of scientific methods;
- Improve scientific writing and communication skills;
- Develop awareness of ethical issues in science;
- Develop interdisciplinary competences;
- Acquire skills, such as project management and presentation techniques.
Training takes place in small groups and allows for in-depth knowledge exchange.
Doctoral candidates will have the opportunity to engage in active exchange and receive support from their peers.
Doctoral education and training (DET) at the University of Luxembourg includes:
1. Transferable Skills Training, a set of common courses;
2. University of Luxembourg Incubator; and
3. Doctoral Programmes, specific research trainings.

Eligible participants
Transferable skills training courses are open to all University of Luxembourg enrolled doctoral candidates.
Depending on the number of remaining seats, courses are also open to external doctoral candidates from LIST, LIH, LISER and MPI.
How to register
You can request an enrollment to a course one month prior to each course. Confirmation to the participants will be given per email as soon as the course is full.
- You are a uni.lu doctoral candidate? register on Moodle
- You are an external doctoral candidate? First, register at Uni.lu following the process for external doctoral candidates; then, register on Moodle.
Once you've chosen your course and filled out an enrollment request form, you will receive a confirmation per email if you are registered and be given access to the course on Moodle.

3. Doctoral Programmes
Doctoral Programmes organised within doctoral schools.
Every doctoral programme is tailored to disciplinary and interdisciplinary research and enables doctoral candidates to acquire advanced academic knowledge.
Doctoral Programmes are open to registered doctoral candidates who are members of a Doctoral School. Depending on the number of remaining seats, courses are also open to external doctoral candidates from LIST, LIH, LISER and MPI.
Becoming a member of a Doctoral School
To apply and register in a doctoral school, you must first be formally registered at the University via the Office of Doctoral Studies.
In certain disciplines, it is mandatory to register in a doctoral school.
For all other disciplines, you are strongly urged to become a member of a doctoral school as soon as possible.
