Michael Dazhi, a doctoral candidate at SigCom group has been selected as the EMEA Region Second Place Winner at the 2021 IEEE COMSOC Internet for All competition.
As part of his “Digital Divide” connectivity solution for underserved communities, Michael proposed a ubiquitous, high throughput, with low latency technology, that can be deployed with the flexibility to meet dynamic traffic demands, which is also cost-effective for the subscribers to maintain. A community was identified in central Europe that suffers from poor internet experience due to degraded QoS. This community falls within communities with low population density, hence it is not economically viable for telecoms operators to install their base stations.
