Dr. Shree Krishna Sharma (MSc. Eng., M. Res., PhD, SMIEEE) is currently a Research scientist at the Interdisciplinary Center for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT), University of Luxembourg. Prior to this, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Western Ontario, Canada for about two years, and as a Senior Research Fellow at Ryerson University for some period. He also worked as a Research Associate at the SnT being involved in different European and national projects after receiving his PhD degree in Wireless Communications from the University of Luxembourg in 2014. In the past, he had held an industrial position as a Telecom Engineer with Nepal Telecom, and part-time and full-time teaching positions with three different universities in Nepal. He has recently acquired the right to supervise doctoral candidates (ADR) at the Doctoral School of Science and Engineering (DSSE), University of Luxembourg.
He has published about 100 technical papers in scholarly journals, international conferences, and book chapters, and has over 2,000 google scholar citations with an h-index of 22 and an i-10 index of 45. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and is the recipient of several prestigious awards including “FNR Award for Outstanding PhD Thesis 2015” from FNR, Luxembourg, “Best Paper Award” in CROWNCOM 2015 conference, “2018 EURASIP JWCN Best Paper Award” and "FNR Award for Outstanding Scientific Publication 2019" from FNR, Luxembourg. His current research interests include advanced signal processing and machine learning techniques for Beyond 5G wireless communication systems, wireless IoT, integration of satellite with 5G systems, massive machine-type communications, collaborative edge-cloud processing, and adaptive optimization of distributed communication, computing and caching resources.
Dr. Sharma has been serving as a Reviewer for several prestigious journals including IEEE Transactions and magazines, and international conferences; and as a TPC member for a number of international conferences including IEEE ICC, Globecom, PIMRC, VTC and ISWCS. He co-organized a special session on “Resource-efficient, Reliable and Secure Internet of Things (IoT) in the 5G Era” in conjunction with IEEE PIMRC 2017 conference, and a workshop on "Machine Learning for Communications and Networking in IoT" in conjunction with IEEE SECON 2019. He served as a Co-Chair of track on "Mobile Satellite Systems, Positioning and Navigation” of IEEE VTC-fall 2018 conference. He has been serving as an Associate Editor for IEEE Access journal since September 2018 and as an editorial board member for EAI Endorsed Transactions on Wireless Spectrum. He worked as a Guest Editor for a special issue in MDPI Information journal and has published an edited book on “Satellite Communications in the 5G Era” with the publisher IET as a lead editor.

Integration of SatCom networks with 5G cellular, enabling technologies for very high throughput satellite systems, cognitive and cooperative SatComs, satellite-terrestrial hybrid backhaul networks, dynamic spectrum sharing, carrier aggregation, precoding/beamforming, interference mitigation and dynamic resource allocation techniques, satellite-assisted spectrum monitoring and localization, SatComs for high altitude platforms such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), content delivery via satellite-assisted CDN networks, advanced satellite constellation networks such as Low Earth Orbit (LEO) mega-constellations and Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) constellations, beamhopping satellite systems, onboard signal processing, IoT via satellite, software defined payloads, feasibility of optical and EHF bands for SatCom applications
