Martin BRENNECKE is a doctoral researcher at the University of Luxembourg’s Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT). Prior to joining SnT, he received both his master’s degree in international economics and governance as well as his bachelor’s degree in philosophy & economics from the University of Bayreuth in Germany.Throughout his studies, he built and maintained an interdisciplinary profile, bringing methods and theories from economics, public policy, and philosophy into business and management information systems research. He previously worked as a student assistant for the German research institute Fraunhofer, as well as for research groups in both economics and philosophy. Further, he conducted internships in an e-commerce company and an OEM in the automotive industry.

Martin’s research interests include digital identities and distributed ledger technologies, focusing on their application and implications in the public and private sectors. His latest publications address the human factor in blockchain ecosystems, proposing a sociotechnical framework based on the Ethereum ecosystem, as well as an investigation into the decentralized autonomous organization MakerDAO. He has also reviewed scientific articles for journals such as Financial Innovation and Electronic Commerce Research.

Martin joined the Digital Financial Services and Cross-Organizational Digital Transformations research group (FINATRAX) headed by Prof. Dr. Gilbert Fridgen. He is a doctoral student in the doctoral program in computer science and engineering at the University of Luxembourg.
