Hanna Marxen was born and raised in Germany but has also lived in Luxembourg, Switzerland and Spain. Her study background is in Psychology which enabled her a high expertise in quantitative data analysis and expertise in qualitative data analysis. Previous to her PHD position at SnT, she received her Master’s degree in Intercultural Psychology from the University of Osnabrück (2021) and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Luxembourg (2018). During her studies, she worked as an intern in two management consultancies as well as a research assistant in various research projects at the University of Luxembourg, University of Twente and University of Vechta.

Her research interest is strongly related to consumer research, specifically to a better understanding of the motivation and background of consumer actions and behavior change interventions, e.g.  towards being more sustainable. Furthermore, she is very interested in research topics which concern the impact of new technologies on consumers as well as cross-cultural investigations. She enjoys applying the methods of psychology to other fields, exploring psychological issues in other disciplines.

Currently, she is a member of the FINATRAX research group and of the INDUCTIVE project team. Her responsibilities lie in investigating the consumer perception of smart charging and potential enablers and barriers of smart charging in Luxembourg. In this framework, she analyses which financial and non-financial incentives are most appealing to customers in order to shift the load away from peak times.
