Eduard Hartwich started his career with a dual study program at BASF and the University of Applied Sciences Ludwigshafen where he spent a semester abroad at the Tongji University in Shanghai, China and later graduated with a B.A. in International Business Administration and Information Technology.

In 2014, Eduard received his MBA and M.A. in International Business Administration. Upon graduation, he joined BASF as a full-time employee. During his almost 7-year tenure, he worked on various operational and strategic topics leading multiple international re-organization projects which encompassed more than 2,500 employees.

His main contributions lied in leading strategic projects that helped develop BASF’s Global Supply Chain Shared Service Organization in terms of service level improvements and organizational developments. He optimized up-and downstream Order-to-Cash and Transport Management processes that solved recurring operational issues and was also responsible for writing a cross-regional, cross-business unit Supply Chain roadmap. This led to the creation of a Supply Chain Excellence unit, which he adjacently headed. His time at BASF was accompanied by a 2.5-year deployment to Singapore.

End of 2021, Eduard joined the University of Luxembourg as Doctoral Researcher as part of the FINATRAX research group. His research interests focus on the intersection between economical and technological developments. He is researching in the areas of Machine Economy, Blockchain, Crypto and IoT. As part of the FiReSpARX research project, his research will be a mix of theoretical and practical implications of a Machine Economy. His first research contributions will focus on establishing a fundamental understanding of Machine Economies and technologies supporting these fundamentals.
