Alexandra Hoess is a doctoral researcher, originally from Germany. Her academic background is in Engineering and Management. She received her Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Industrial Engineering from the University of Augsburg. Afterward she obtained a Master’s degree (M.Sc. with honors) within the Elite Graduate Program “Finance- & Information Management” of the Technical University of Munich, University of Augsburg, and University of Bayreuth. Throughout her studies, she gained interdisciplinary knowledge, with particular focus on energy and resource management as well as business and information systems engineering. During her studies, she conducted internships in the field of business development and strategy, and worked as a student assistant at a German research institute.

Alexandra’s research interests include the design and management of digital identity ecosystems as well as the application and effects of distributed ledger technologies in public and private sectors. Within her research she applies qualitative research methods, such as case study research and design science research. Recent publications consider the effect of distributed ledger technologies on ecosystem structures and competition, and the role of blockchain technology for digital identity management. Her publications consider applications within the energy and mobility sector, such as seamless mobility-as-a-service and roaming for electric vehicle charging. 

Alexandra works in a joint research partnership between the SnT and Luxembourg’s Ministry for Digitalisation. In this collaboration, Alexandra supports the Ministry in strategy and policy making for digital identities for Luxembourg.
