Space Resources Week 2021 is a 4-day conference connecting the terrestrial resources sector, aerospace industry, financial institutions, research institutes and academia.

The event is organised by the European Space Resources Innovation Center (ESRIC), in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA), and aims at examining the technical and economic challenges of in-situ resource utilization (ISRU), elaborating recommendations for the future development of this highly advanced technological sector.

There will be a series of captivating talks and facilitated discussion sessions on the technologies, business models and next steps that will enable space resources utilisation in support of a sustained and sustainable human presence on the Moon and beyond.

Two students from the Interdisciplinary Space Master will be speakers in the

Utilisation Scenarios session, presenting potential space resources utilisation scenarios identified by the worldwide community.

SPEAKERS:

  • Natalia Stepanova: Herschel Re-Supply Mission Feasibility Study
  • Bishawajit Gogoi: Study into In-Orbit Servicing of the Rosetta Mission

A number of SnT researchers will also present six posters at the event, showcasing their projects in Space Systems and Resources. An example is the joint “5G Space Communications Lab” (5G-SpaceLab) project launched by the Signal Processing and Communications, Remote Sensing Applications and Space Robotics research groups. The lab is an interdisciplinary experimental platform, funded by the Luxembourg Space Agency, that allows researchers to emulate and test realistic space communications and control scenarios for the next generation of space applications.
