We capped a successful year with strong representation in Paperjam’s Top 100 2018, which now in its 7th edition has become a much anticipated fixture in the Grand Duchy’s end of year celebrations.

SnT Director Professor Björn Ottersten, Honorary Professor Jean-Louis Schiltz and Research Fellow Georges Schmit all appeared in the annual rundown of the key movers and shakers in Luxembourg – recognition of their tireless commitment to the country’s future.

In his opening speech at the Top 100 awards ceremony, Minister for Finance Pierre Gramegna emphasised the importance of innovation to the country’s economy; the inclusion of three of our members underlines the Centre’s key role in the drive to make innovation a key part of Luxembourg’s identity, whether in Fintech, space resources, autonomous vehicles, cybersecurity, Internet of Things or secure and compliant data management.

2018 has been a record-breaking year for SnT. With 12 highly competitive new H2020 and ESA projects acquired, nine new industry partners, and our third ERC Advanced Grant – Europe’s most prestigious individual research grant – SnT continues to rise to the challenge it sets itself: bridging the worlds of cutting edge long-term and demand driven research.
