Research Seminar: Quantum security with optical PUFs

The combination of optical PUFs and quantum optics makes it possible to build protocols whose security relies on physical assumptions, e.g. the assumption that it is difficult to losslessly emulate a PUF’s behaviour. QSA (Quantum Secure Authentication) is an example of such a protocol. Unfortunately, QSA requires a two-way quantum channel.

This talk discusses a new protocol, PUF-Enabled Asymmetric Communication (PEAC), which needs only a one-way channel. http://export.arxiv.org/abs/1802.07573

Boris Skoric received a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in 1999. From 1999 to 2008 he was a research scientist at Philips Research in Eindhoven, working first on display physics and later on security topics. In 2008 he joined the department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands, as assistant professor.
