On Tuesday, 31 January 2023 takes place a seminar on the ethics of autonomous vehicles at 15:00in JFK building, room 004/005.
Antonio Bikić, currently working at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and doing a PostDoc at the University of Leipzig, will address in his talk the question of whether the tools provided by ethics can improve the safety of AI systems.
For this purpose, he will first introduce basic ethical concepts and show different situations where applying said concepts make a difference. These situations are of interest not only for autonomous cars but also for urban air mobility.
His talk will also present reinforcement learning (RL) and the ethical paradigm of consequentialism as well as the ethical paradigms applicable to real-world problems.
Abstract:
In my talk, I will address the question of whether the tools provided by ethics can improve the safety of AI systems.
For this purpose, I will first introduce basic ethical concepts and show different situations where applying said concepts make a difference. These situations are of interest not only for autonomous cars but also for urban air mobility. During my talk, I will show, that it is morally and/or constitutionally crucial which ethical paradigms are applicable for real-world problems.
The lecture also deals with reinforcement learning (RL) and the ethical paradigm of consequentialism already included in RL and covers aspects from semantics that are relevant for ethical problem-solving.
