Cybersecurity in the pandemic

  • Lieu

Luxembourg Legal Hackers is organising an online event in the framework of the EU cybersecurity month.

COMPLEMENTING LARGE-SCALE TESTING WITH ANONYMOUS DATA

How may citizens’ privacy be ensured, while providing scientists with meaningful data to quickly identify disease clusters?

Didier Hoareau (CEO & Co-founder, Keexle – OnePrivacy) and Chloé Lellinger (DPO, LISER) will present Keexle ZeroTrack, a tool built by the Luxembourgish startup OnePrivacy, in collaboration with LISER & the Luxembourgish Covid-19 Task Force to complement the large scale testing strategy. The tool provides early identification of disease clusters, based on reports of symptoms by citizens, and leverages Keexle’s end-to-end encryption technology that ensures total anonymity of the data.

DETECTING & PREVENTING CRYPTOGRAPHIC RANSOMWARE

The risk of ransomware has increased during the COVID-19 crisis as a result of the shift to remote working. The consequences can be devastating. Ziya Alper Genç (SnT, University of Luxembourg) will introduce his research work, where he has investigated the vulnerabilities of the most-advanced cryptographic ransomware, but also of antivirus programs. Based on this analysis, Ziya has proposed and tested strategies to mitigate attacks against hundreds of real-world ransomware samples. The presentation will end with the ethical questions that may be raised by the dual-use nature of this research.
