Please join us for a virtual workshop to be held April 23-24th, 2021 that seeks to share best practices to effectively engage students and faculty working in research labs and lab-based classrooms in building inclusive ethical cultures. The two-day workshop will feature a series of short presentations and panel discussions that showcase best practices and approaches to embedding educational interventions in research labs and lab-based courses.

Dr. Marietjie Botes, Research Associate at IRiSC at SnT will speak on 24 April at 18:30 on Storytelling as a facilitation tool for inclusive ethics. She’ll present the art and science of storytelling as a two-way trust and relationship building tool which enhance empathic understanding of ethics to ensure that ethics are adequately integrated and embedded in scientific training and research, whilst actively engaging students, faculty and even research participants by building inclusive ethical cultures. This tool can also be adapted to help international or underrepresented students to gain insight into cultural differences and their effect on ethical approaches.
