Asteroid Day is a UN-sanctioned global awareness campaign participated annually on 30 June. It’s mission is to inspire, engage and educate the public about asteroids opportunities and risks. It acts as an educational and awareness programme aimed to inform the world about asteroids: how they form, their role in our solar system and how we can protect our planet from impacts. In Luxembourg, the program will be run by the Asteroid Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation. The programme’s events are designed for people of all ages and are mostly accessible free-of-charge.
Thanks to its partners and supporters, including The University of Luxembourg’s SnT, Asteroid Day has made significant strides in educating the world about asteroids.
The Asteroid Day LIVE Programme on 30 June will include interviews with key personnel from the missions of yesterday and tomorrow. From 1 June – 4 July, you can learn about asteroids on Asteroid Day TV. Original films will be shown, as well as series, family learning programmes and featured virtual events from around the world.
