Petra Böwen works as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Luxembourg, in the FLSHASE faculty (i.e. Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education). She studied Educational Sciences at the University of Trier with an emphasis on adult education, social education and social work. She worked in Germany and Luxembourg for 25 years in the field of social and professional integration of disadvantaged people in the labor market and social policy interface; towards the end of this period, she worked with the Luxembourg Family Ministry. From 1992 - 2004, she taught at the I.E.E.S. (Institute d’Etude Sociales et Educatives) and, since 2004, in the BSSE program (Bachelor of Social and Educational Sciences) at the University of Luxembourg. As a freelance lecturer, her emphasis is on cooperation and networking, and job coaching, and in the private sector, she focuses on communications and human resources development. As a Senior Lecturer in Social Work, she contributes to the theory, methods and practice-oriented education in the framework of the BSSE. Currently, her focus is the development of the modular group "Profession and Practice" and the development of networking/collaboration with professionals and policy makers. In addition, she advises students how to apply for universities, tutors them and prepares them for their professional careers.
Since 2014, she leads the PraxisBüro in the Research Unit INSIDE. She works on different research and networking projects in social and educational sciences.
