Helen Kavvadia

Dr. Helen Kavvadia is Visiting Research Associate, at the University of Luxembourg-IPSE. Prior to this, she was a Senior Adviser at the Communications Department of the European Investment Bank (EIB), which she joined initially as a Loan Officer, responsible under different positions for France, Germany, UK and the BENELUX countries.

She holds a PhD in Economics and Political Science from the Panteion University in Athens. Her academic background includes Economics and Business Administration degrees from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and The American College of Greece -Deree. After obtaining an MSc in Analysis, Design and Management of Information Systems, at the London School of Economics (LSE), she pursued her studies at the LSE as an MPhil/PhD student on the same topic, holding a research position as a member of LSE’s LEGOL project. She pursued subsequently courses and research at the University of Cologne, on her project “An Approach to Effective Goal-oriented Information Systems” (AEGIS), focusing on information systems design. She later diversified her studies with a Diploma in Diplomatic and Strategic Studies at the Centre des Etudes Diplomatiques et Stratégiques (CEDS).

Her research interest focuses on economic diplomacy, including Official Development Assistance (ODA), International Financial Institutions (IFIs) and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Geographically her research interest focuses in Europe, Southeastern Europe, including the European Southern Neighborhood as well European Union member and candidate countries, and the Middle East and North Africa countries, on which she has been lecturing EuroMed policy at the Université de Mons Hainaut, in Mons, in Belgium.

She teaches Europe and Global Economic Diplomacy, for the Master in European Governance of the University of Luxembourg, since 2017.
