Ben Schmid receives biannual VGDH award for the best dissertation in human geography.

We are very happy to announce that our former member and PhD candidate at the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning, Benedikt (Ben) Schmid received the 2021 Dissertation Award of the VGDH, the Association of Geographers at German Speaking Universities and Research Centres.

The price is awarded every two years to the author of the best PhD thesis in human geography and in physical geography, respectively. Ben Schmidt’s dissertation with the title „Making Transformative Geographies: Lessons from Stuttgart’s Community Economy“ was supervised by Prof Christian Schulz together with CET members Tim Freytag (University of Freiburg, Germany) and Gerald Taylor Aiken (now at LISER – Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research).
