Débora Poncelet (PhD) is Associate Professor in educational science and psychology within the Department of Education and Social Work at the University of Luxembourg.

Her research interests have mainly been focusing on family educational strategies and family-school-community relationships. She is particularly interested in the study of the effect of family-school relationships, parental involvement and home learning environment on students’ school perseverance process. The family context and educational attitudes of parents can be protective or risk factors of dropping out.

She is vice-head of the Bachelor Degree in Educational Sciences (BScE) and is responsible of the following courses in this programme : “Differentiation within classrooms”, “The professional development portfolio” and “The school-family-community relationship and intercultural mediation”.

She is representative for Luxembourg both within the « Association internationale de Formation et de Recherche en éducation Familiale » (AIFREF) and the “Laboratoire accrochage scolaire et alliances éducatives” (Lasalé).

Research interests:

  •  L’influence des processus intrafamiliaux et de l’engagement parental sur la réussite scolaire.
  • Elaboration de projets visant le rapprochement de l’école et de la famille et implantation de ces derniers dans des classes-cibles.
  • Le point de vue de l’enfant sur son éducation familiale et scolaire.
  • Réflexion autour de l’implantation du portfolio dans les dispositifs d’apprentissage.
  • Le portfolio comme outil de développement professionnel.
  • Le décrochage scolaire.
