Over the summer time, the LLC staff together with the colleagues from the Consortium Luxembourg organised getting access to the following databases:
- Cairn.info (Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Economics)
The electronic collection of mainly French titles on humanities and social sciences as well as on law and economics comprises over 500 journals and more than 12,000 e-books, including the collection “Repères” and “Que sais-je?” (access also remotely).
- Early English Books Online (EEBO) (English Studies, History)
The EEBO corpus consists more than 125,000 volumes of the works represented in the English Short Title Catalogue I and II, as well as the Thomason Tracts and the Early English Books Tract Supplement covering the history of English thought from 1475 to 1700. The content covers literature, philosophy, politics, religion, geography, science and all other areas of human endeavour. The subscription is paid by the Institute of English Studies as well as the Institute of History (access for university members only – also remotely).
- JoVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments) (Life Sciences/Biology, Chemistry)
The “Journal of Visualized Experiments” is a peer reviewed scientific video journal that should help to overcome poor reproducibility and the time and labour intensive nature of learning new experimental techniques via online videos. Access to the research collections of Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biology, Cancer Research, Immunology and Infection, Neuroscience, as well as to parts of the education collections of Biology, Chemistry, and Molecular Biology is now possible, but only at the university.
- SAE Technical Papers and SAE International Journals (Engineering)
The Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) published more than 107,000 technical papers and journal articles written and peer-reviewed by experts in the automotive, aerospace, and commercial vehicle industries on the latest advances in technical research and applied technical engineering information. The LLC subscribed to the Technical papers (1998-present) and acquired the journal articles published from 2018-2021 – both accessible via a-z.lu or directly via SAE Mobilus (access for university members only – also remotely).
