The SysMedPD project unites a highly experienced multidisciplinary consortium to improve understanding and detection of PD with mitochondrial dysfunction.

Eight partners from five European countries collaborate to discover and develop novel drug candidates, specifically tailored to patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease with overt mitochondrial dysfunction. The SysMedPD project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. In his presentation, Dr Javier Jarazo, post-doctoral fellow in the Developmental and Cellular Biology group, is outlining how in vitro testing of drug compounds contributes to the overall project aim of identifying potential new drug candidates for the treatment of the Parkinson`s disease.
