The “2021 RIKEN-Luxembourg Digital Scientific Symposium” is organized in the framework of the collaboration between the RIKEN Institute and Luxembourg.

The fundamental elements of the collaboration are the so-called joint RIKEN Outpost Labs in Luxembourg where scientists from the RIKEN Institute undertake research in the Grand-Duchy and thereby further intensify their collaboration with Luxembourgish partners from the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine of the University of Luxembourg (LCSB) and the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH).

The “2021 RIKEN-Luxembourg Digital Scientific Conference” will take place online on the 16 March 2021 from 08:30 to 11:30 Luxembourg time, 16:30 – 19:30 Japan time. The talks will focus on AI for Improved Healthcare and Common Mechanisms in Neuro-Inflammation, agenda is available for download below.

About the RIKEN-Luxembourg collaboration

Since nearly a decade, a fruitful collaboration exists between the RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences (RIKEN-IMS) and Luxembourg. Since 2016, diverse exchange programmes took place and researchers visited each other’s institutions for some weeks and months to perform their experiments on the partners’ side, mostly supported via grants from the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR). Symposia were organized in 2017 in Japan and in 2018 in Luxembourg. In July 2019, the RIKEN-Luxembourg collaboration was strengthened by a new Memorandum of Understanding.
