Confucius Institute

 

 

Confucius Institutes are centres for the promotion of Chinese language and culture. The first institutes were set up in 2004 as non-profit organisations. There are currently more than 500 Confucius Institutes in over 140 countries worldwide.

In 2016, an agreement between the Confucius Institute – the Chinese Government department responsible for promotion of Chinese language overseas – and the University of Luxembourg together with Fudan University in Shanghai has led to the establishment of a Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg is dedicated to promoting the development of the Chinese language and culture, not only within the University but also across the country, especially at educational, cultural, economic and scientific level. This commitment can be seen as part of a broader approach to further mutual understanding and strengthen bilateral relations between China and Luxembourg.

 

From October 2018, the Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg will be launching its Chinese language courses on Belval Campus. The courses last for 12 weeks during the 2018-2019 winter semester and you have several options:

 If you are a student at the University of Luxembourg: 

You have to register on your Moodle account. You have two choices (Beginner level – Twice a week & Intermediate level – Once a week). Courses are free of charge and give you ECTS credits. Please, first contact Confucius Institute to receive your enrolment key.

- €75 for employees of Confucius Institute-affiliated institutions (University of Luxembourg, CHINALUX, Luxembourg for Finance), job seekers and asylum seekers (upon presentation of suitable documentation).
