A study visit in Tunisia

On the 2nd of March, a group of 13 students from the Bachelor in Engineering, their study programme director Prof. Frank Scholzen, administrators from the Department of Engineering and the organiser Prof. Inès Chihi, who joined as assistant professor in 2022, had the opportunity to go on a study visit to Tunisia.

On the first days, the group went to Sfax, where they exchanged with professors, administrative staff and students from the Institut international de Technologie (IIT), participated to soft skills workshops, visited a few multinational industries and in-between enjoyed the sightseeing of the beautiful medina of Sfax.

Back in Tunis, while the students returned to Luxembourg, Prof. Chihi and her colleagues visited the University of Tunis El Manar, were they met with the Rector Prof. Moez Chafra, the Vice-rector for research, technological development and environmental partnerships and the Director of academic affairs and scientific partnerships. The FSTM Dean, Prof. Jean-Marc Schlenker joined online, and presented the UL and FSTM. The FSTM Vice-Dean, Prof. Serge Haan, and Alison Vermeulen, International Relations Officer, also attended. Many ideas for future collaborations in research and education were discussed and will be translated into a convention.

The group also had the opportunity to present the UL and the DoE and have some fruitful exchanges with members from the Department of energy efficiency and renewable energies and, from the Ecole Nationale d’ ingénieurs de Tunis, with the Laboratories of Communication Systems and Research in automation.
