Changes to Student Support due to COVID-19
The Inclusion team is offering a blended and connected approach to advice, guidance and support throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. This means support is available in a combination of in-person and online formats to ensure you have the proper access to the support you need. If you are offered an in-person appointment, you will have to follow all relevant safety precautions.
The Inclusion team is available via video, WhatsApp, email and phone. Where necessary and possible, face-to-face meetings with a team member may be possible, in compliance with all appropriate safety measures.

Grant for Students from Refugee Background
We are delighted to announce the Lions Club Luxembourg in collaboration with Fondation Veuve Emile Metz-Tesch are offering support for Bachelor and Master students at University of Luxembourg from a refugee background.
The aim of the grant is to:
- promote inclusion of persons from a refugee background in the national third level education system
- enable students from a refugee background access to higher education and to build sustainable futures
- encourage learning for all students, regardless of status
The grants address different aspects of support:
- financial support during studies
- additional academic and language support classes
- professional mentoring and network building opportunities
The Grants
Merit Award
To be considered, applicants must:
- have refugee status in Luxembourg
- be enrolled as a full-time student in the previous and current semester (same programme)
- have passed at least 3 exams of their regular course of study in the past semester (highest grades awarded)
- be resident in Luxembourg
Housing Award
To be considered, applicants must:
- have refugee status in Luxembourg
- be currently enrolled as full-time students
- have a valid rental contract in own name
- be resident in Luxembourg
Language Support
1:1 support classes to improve written and spoken language skills related to your study programme
Academic Support
1:1 classes with a subject specialist to develop the learning skills needed to succeed in your study programme
Mentoring Program
This One Step Forward programme provides students with the opportunity to meet professionals from the private sector.

If you are recognized refugee person and are eligible for this grant, you can apply by sending the documents listed below to inclusion@uni.lu including your name and student ID. The closing date for applications is 6 December 2021.
Please include:
- transcript of records
- certificate of enrolment
- housing rental contract
- proof of refugee status in Luxembourg
- proof of residence in Luxembourg
- RIB from bank
Selection Criteria
The award will be granted on the basis of the applicant’s file. All applications will be carefully considered by the Committee, however limited funds means we cannot accept all applications. Successful candidates will receive a reply during the month of December.
