Lifelong Learning & Guidance (LLLG)

Lifelong learning is an important aspect of knowledge-based economies. Through a multidisciplinary perspective – rooted in psychological, educational and sociological sciences – the Institute for Lifelong Learning and Guidance (LLLG) aims to research education, training and counseling of people learning in formal, non-formal and informal contexts.

LLLG focuses on life transitions (that is, from family to school, between school levels, from school to work, from one job to another, from employment to unemployment, from work to retirement, from one country to another) and on professional development. During these critical phases, cognitive adaptation and learning strategies are needed and must be supported through analysis, evaluation and guidance. The Institute for LLLG is working on these phases and is testing new methods and solutions for analysing, evaluating and conducting them.

The Institute has national and international collaborations; several universities, ministries and other official bodies are among its partners. The LLLG research is also linked to the university's study programs and more particularly to the Bachelor en Sciences de l'Éducation and Master of Science in Psychology: Evaluation and Assessment. Besides, several PhD students are integrated in the Institute and carry out their research projects on themes related to the research priorities of the Institute (for example, professional flexibility, vocational learning in companies, creativity and its role in learning, cognitive creativity, unemployment, subjective health, changes following school reforms).
