These four major themes of research at IHIST are placed in a larger European context, with a particular focus on transnational connections and cultural transfers. Moreover, a metanational approach allows researchers to reflect on the risks of methodological nationalism and anachronisms in general.
Research undertaken at IHIST is strongly linked to the teaching of history in the Bachelor, Master and PhD curricula. Additional history events organized for the public also allow researchers to introduce the current debates in history to a wider audience.
