The International Law research group investigates public international law and its various subfields, with an emphasis on:

• international human rights law;
• international investment law,

as well as their interaction and linkages with European law.

The group studies international law from various angles and engages in normative as well as comparative research.

Current research themes include:

• the development of sanctions and embargoes under international law;
• the scope of corporate human rights obligations under international law;
• the prevalence of judicial restraint in international adjudication;
• the role of state consent to arbitration in the light of new developments in international investment law;
• the role of national courts in the development of international criminal law.
