Graduation Week

This year, the University of Luxembourg is organising the second edition of its annual Graduation Week.

This event highlights the academic achievements of our students and celebrates their newly gained status as Alumni of the University of Luxembourg.

Seven ceremonies will be held over a period of four consecutive days, from 11 to 14 December 2018 as follows:

Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication

  • Bachelor: Tuesday 11 December 2018 from 14:30 to 16:30
  • Master: Tuesday 11 December 2018 from 18:00 to 20:00

Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance

  • Bachelor: Wednesday 12 December 2018 from 14:30 to 16:30
  • Master: Wednesday 12 December 2018 from 18:00 to 20:00

Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education

  • Bachelor: Thursday 13 December 2018 from 14:30 to 16:30
  • Master and Lifelong Learning programmes: Thursday 13 December 2018 from 18:00 to 20:00

Ph.D. Graduation Ceremony

  • Friday 14 December 2018 from 18:30 to 20:30

We would kindly ask our graduates, as well as their guests, to arrive 30 minutes prior to the event start time.

Please note that each ceremony will be followed by a Cocktail at the Maison des Arts et des Etudiants on Belval Campus, to give you the opportunity to toast your success.

How to register for my ceremony?

Bachelor and Master students:
After receiving your invitation to your graduation ceremony via your student email address, please register through the guichet étudiant. This is mandatory for you and your guests.
Registrations are open until the 27 November but we encourage you to do it at your earliest convenience.

Doctoral candidates:

Where does my ceremony take place?

All ceremonies take place in the AUDIMAX (-1) at the Maison du Savoir on Belval Campus, located 2 avenue de l’Université, L-4365 Esch/Alzette

Please use the “Auditoires” entrance.

How to get there?

Thank you for taking into account heavy traffic during rush hours, as it could delay your arrival.

How many guests can I bring?

Guest seats are limited to 4 per graduate and per ceremony.

Attention: Due to a very high number of graduates, guest seats are limited to 3 per graduate for the FLSHASE bachelor and FDEF Master Ceremonies.

Can we bring children?

Yes, but we suggest they will be under the supervision of an accompanying guest.

If extra seating is needed, please do not forget to include this in your registration.

Can I make changes to my reservation?

For Bachelor and Master students, the reservation through the guichet étudiant stays open until the 27 November 2018. Until then, you can change your reservation at any time but please note that it is your last registration that counts. E-tickets will be printed after the registration period and will reflect the most recent information.

Are the ceremonies subject to an entrance fee?

All ceremonies are free for you and your guests.

How do the e-tickets work?

Bachelor and Master students:
Entrance is only possible with a valid, personalised entrance ticket. Each ticket can only be scanned once and gives only one access right to the holder of the ticket.
The ticket is only valid for the date printed on the ticket.
You will receive your e-tickets via e-mail at the end of the registration period or you can download them via the guichet étudiant as from 27 November 2018.
If you do not arrive with your guests, please make sure they have their e-ticket to enter the ceremony.
You can download or print out the e-tickets at your convenience.

Please note that there are no e-tickets for the Ph.D. Graduation Ceremony. A guest list is automatically generated after the online registration; therefore, your registration is mandatory. You can then present yourself directly at the entrance.

What solutions are available for people with special needs?

Dedicated parking spots as well as an access ramp are available in front of the Maison du Savoir.

Is there a dress code?

No, but as your graduation ceremony is a significant event, the appropriate dress is business attire.

Is there a photographer at the ceremony?

There will be a professional photographer as well as photobooths installed at different locations around the campus.

Terms and conditions: Photographs can be taken for personal use. During the event, the Organiser will take pictures and record videos. By using his or her entrance ticket, the guest authorises the University of Luxembourg to capture and publish his or her images and videos for communications in relation to the event. The Organiser ensures a responsible use of the material, meaning use of videos and photos only for communications which exclude all commercial activities

Pictures can be viewed and purchased online after the ceremonies. Details on how to order digital photographs are available in the graduation pack distributed during the ceremonies.

How can I receive my diploma if I cannot attend the ceremony?

If you have the possibility, you can get your diploma at the SEVE office as from January 2019. Ms Delphine Borbiconi office hours are: Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 16:00.

If you cannot present yourself at SEVE, you have the possibility to mandate a person. In that case he or she will need a proxy lettre and a copy of your ID.

If you are abroad, please contact Ms Delphine Borbiconi directly via and indicate your new address. The diploma will be sent to you after the graduation week.

What language is my diploma issued in?

Bachelor and Master diplomas are issued in English, French and German.

Why didn't I receive my diploma during the graduation ceremony?

Registration for the graduation ceremony is mandatory in order to prepare your documents for this special occasion. Please make sure to register before 27 November via the guichet étudiant.

Diplomas are handed out under the condition that all your personal affairs (Library, housing, etc.) at the University of Luxembourg are fully paid and up-to-date.

What should I do if there is a mistake on my diploma?

Bachelors and Master students:

I lost my diploma, can I get a new one?

You can receive a duplicate against a fee of 50€.
