Pietro Sgobba, doctoral student in mathematics at the University of Luxembourg, participated in the virtual session Huawei Seeds for the Future, which offers students a full immersion into Chinese culture and ICT environment.

Pietro Sgobba explains in more details this experience.

Why did you apply for this programme?

“I applied for the programme “Huawei Seeds for the future” as I am interested in China and Chinese culture, and so I thought this was a chance not to miss. More precisely, I believed this was a great opportunity to get to know more about China’s recent technological development. Indeed, the programme offered a few introductory courses to topics such as artificial intelligence, 5G and cloud computing.”

What did you like the most?

“Even though my major is not IT, all courses were accessible and inspiring. Furthermore, the programme was also aimed to promote cultural exchange by letting the participants taste Chinese culture, as well as interact with people having different cultural backgrounds. Something I personally appreciated was hearing about the experience of several foreign professionals in China.”

What about the online version?

“Even though it was not possible to attend the programme in China due to the current sanitary situation, joining the online version was still a great experience to have! Thanks to the daily live sessions and meetings, I could feel quite involved in it. I would recommend the programme to anyone that is curious about Chinese culture and eager to learn something new.”

A new edition is already planned for October 2021, more information via this link
