The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine of the University announces the successful accreditation of three study programmes:

the Bachelor in Applied Information Technology, the Bachelor in Applied Information Technology – Continuing Education Programme and the Master in Information and Computer Sciences.

ACQUIN Accreditation

The three programmes have been accredited by the German Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance Institute, ACQUIN, which is renowned for carrying out assessments and accreditations in the European higher education sector to ensure the comparability of the quality of higher education qualifications.

The international programme accreditation aims both at assessing the study programmes’ existing quality and at recommending improvements. The accreditation has been performed by independent external reviewers who have evaluated and assessed the study programmes against a set of criteria complying with the “Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area” (ESG).

The accreditation of the programmes is granted until the end of September 2028.

Three programmes of excellence

For students, accreditation is a guarantee of a balanced quality programme resulting in an award recognised by other institutions and employers. Furthermore, it makes changing between international institutions easier for the students, while taking their course credits with them.

From the conversations with the students and lecturers, the evaluation team gained the impression of very attractive study programmes. In the course of their studies, the students are very well prepared for their future professional field and for their professional tasks.

Strong commitment of the Faculty

“The accreditation of our three largest programmes in computer science demonstrates that they are highly appreciated by the students and offer all guarantees of excellent learning conditions. They provide students with all they need to enter the job market or continue their studies at the master or doctoral level. I would like to thank all the colleagues who were involved in the accreditation process”, comments Jean-Marc Schlenker, Dean of the Faculty.

The Faculty will continue its efforts in accrediting further programmes in the future to strengthen a sustainable quality dynamic of education meeting both the demands of students and the market. “Those three accreditations are the beginning of a process, and more programmes will be accredited in coming years. In the long run we can expect that all programmes will be accredited”, concludes Prof. Schlenker.
