Liyou Borga is a Research Associate at INSIDE - Integrative Research Unit on Social and Individual Development. Before joining the University of Luxembourg, Liyou was a Junior Researcher at CERGE-EI (Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education - Economics Institute) in Prague the Czech Republic, where he did his Ph.D.

His main research interest lies in labour economics and applied econometrics, mainly the role of early investments in childhood. He is particularly interested in skill formation, child development, intrahousehold resource allocation, and measurement of poverty and vulnerability. His current research focuses on the importance of innate abilities, parental investment, time use patterns, socioeconomic status, and early childhood interventions in explaining inequalities in cognitive and noncognitive skills as well as health capital.
