Master of Data Science

Admission requirements

Candidates for admission in the Master of Data Science are required to hold:

  • Bachelor or equivalent with at least 180 ECTS in mathematics, physics, engineering, economics or any Bachelor offering sufficient number of courses of mathematics. 

In the selection process, emphasis is placed on the number of mathematics courses taken during the Bachelor's degree and the grades obtained in these courses. In particular, a good basic knowledge of analysis and linear algebra is required to be able to follow the Master courses.

  • Language: level B2 in English (If the teaching language of the Bachelor was English, a certificate from the old University/Institution which certifies the completion of the programme in which the teaching language was the one that is used in the chosen programme at the University of Luxembourg is needed).

Application

The maximum number of places available per academic year is 20. Applications for the Master of Data Science are evaluated on the basis of the following selection criteria:

  • Relevance of the course and quality/level of academic or university results, particularly in mathematics and computer science, assessed on the basis of bachelor's transcripts
  • Adequacy between the candidate's expectations and the training offer of the programme, assessed on the basis of the motivation letter
  • Professional experience in the field of statistics, if applicable, assessed on the basis of the CV

Only candidates whose academic level has been judged sufficient will be admitted to the Master of Data Science, even if there are still places available. An accelerated selection of candidates who have demonstrated strong aptitude in mathematics and/or computer science will be applied.
