Master in Information and Computer Sciences

Two scholarships are currently offered for this Master programme: the Guillaume Dupaix International Scholarship and the Guardian Glass Scholarship.

Note : you cannot apply for both Guillaume Dupaix and Guardian Glass scholarships. You only need to indicate in your motivation letter whether you are applying to the Guillaume Dupaix of the Guardian Glass scholarship.

The Guillaume Dupaix International Scholarship 

The Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research are funding a talent support programme. The Guillaume Dupaix International Master’s Scholarship aims to attract high-achieving international students who wish to follow a master’s programme at the University of Luxembourg.

Eligibility criteria

  • International applicants both from EU and non-EU countries applying to a master’s degree
  • Excellent academic performance during undergraduate studies
  • Non-beneficiaries of Luxembourg’s CEDIES

Eligible programmes

This scholarship is offered for the following Master programmes: 

  • Master in Integrated Systems Biology
  • Master in Information and Computer Sciences
  • Master in Information System Security Management
  • Interdisciplinary Space Master
  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering - Megastructure Engineering with Sustainable Resources
  • Master of Science in Engineering - Sustainable Product Creation
  • Master en Sciences de l’Ingénieur – Efficacité Énergétique et Économique
  • Master en Enseignement Secondaire - Mathématiques
  • Master in Mathematics
  • Master of Data Science
  • Master of Science in Physics

Financial support

The stipend amounts to 5.146€ per semester and is paid in two instalments per academic year at the beginning of each semester for a maximum of two years. Payment is subject to performance evaluation and may be withheld, for example, in the case of academic misconduct, poor results or withdrawal from the master's programme. The scholarship includes free accommodation in a university residence for the duration of the Master programme, up to a maximum of 650€/month for a maximum of two years. Tuition fees are not included in the scholarship. The scholarship cannot be cumulated with any other type of grant financed by the Luxembourg government, or a similar scholarship funded by a private sponsor. For instance you cannot apply for both Guillaume Dupaix and Guardian Glass scholarships.

Application procedure

Applying for a scholarship is a two-step process.

  1. In a first stage, applicants must apply to a Master's degree through the online admission portal, please click here
  2. Once the application to the master’s degree is completed, applicants meeting the eligibility criteria mentioned above can apply to the scholarship following this link

Applicants must provide the following documents to be considered for the scholarship:

  • CV
  • Motivation letter
  • Two letters of academic recommendation with contact details
  • A copy of the email received by the University of Luxembourg confirming the successful submission of your master’s application (If you have applied to more than one master’s programme, please attach one confirmation email per master’s programme application)

Applicants are selected based on:

  • high academic achievements
  • originality and motivation of their application
  • positive feedback from the recommendation letters

Please note that due to the high volume of applications received, only selected applicants will be notified, at the latest by 2 June 2023.

The selection of applicants for the scholarship is an ongoing process taking place during the admission period. Outstanding applicants may also be selected before the application deadline.

The Guardian Glass Scholarship

Guardian Europe funds is an international talent support programme. The Guardian Glass Scholarship aims at attracting high-performing international students applying to master programmes at the University of Luxembourg’s, Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine.

Eligibility criteria

  • International master applicants outside the cross-border area of the Greater Region (Luxembourg and its surrounding border countries)
  • High academic achievements at Bachelor studies
  • Civic engagement, volunteer work or other extracurricular activities
  • Non-beneficiaries of Luxembourg’s CEDIES

Eligible programmes

This scholarship is offered for the following Master programmes: 

  • Master in Information and Computer Sciences
  • Master of Science in Engineering - Sustainable Product Creation
  • Master in Mathematics
  • Master of Data Science
  • Master of Science in Physics

Financial support

The stipend is paid in four instalments (€5,000 at the beginning of each winter semester, followed by a second instalment of €5,000 at the beginning of each summer semester per academic year) for the regular duration of study, for a maximum of two years. Payment is subject to a performance assessment each semester and can be withheld in case of poor academic results, academic misconduct, or withdrawal from the Master programme. Tuition fees are not included in the scholarship. The scholarship cannot be cumulated with any other type of grant financed by the Luxembourg government, or a similar scholarship funded by a private sponsor. For instance you cannot apply for both Guillaume Dupaix and Guardian Glass scholarships.
