Certificate - Smart ICT for business innovation (professionnel)

Overview

This University certificate will focus on important aspects of Smart ICT and their applications, such as the development of Smart Cities, Big Data and Analytics, Internet of Things and Cloud Computing. The programme will also propose an overview of some challenges to fully exploit the potential of Smart ICT:

  • Digital Trust: Technologies must offer security, privacy and trust guarantees to ensure their adoption and proper implementation;
  • Governance of IT: Economic actors must take ownership and support these technologies to benefit from their advantages;
  • Green ICT: The massive digitalization of our society has important repercussions on our environment and our quality of life. It has become necessary to take into account the environmental impact of the Smart ICT but also to take advantage of the solutions provided by Smart ICT.

All of these technologies and challenges are now being considered by international and European standardisation organisations. Technical standardisation will therefore be at the core of the curriculum as it is a key source of knowledge in constant evolution. Standardisation committees can indeed be considered as the only platforms gathering all interest groups of manufacturers, researchers, business innovators and other stakeholders, making them the beating heart of ICT progress.

Pedagogical Strategies & Workload

Teaching methods are characterized by a multidisciplinary approach encompassing lectures, tutorials and practical projects to promote knowledge sharing and exchange of experiences.

The certificate includes:

  • 120 hours of teaching classes (lecture courses and tutorials);
  • 16 hours of seminars;
  • 48 hours allocated to a final project, which has to be developed by the student during an internship.

Structure

The certificate - Smart ICT for business innovation includes six different knowledge blocks split into the year and one internship. ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits can be awarded for the following:

  • Smart ICT concepts, on the foundations of Smart ICT
  • Business innovation, on fundamental knowledge and tools concerning business innovation
  • Technical standardisation, on ICT standardisation and its economic benefits
  • Digital intelligence, on technology trends, opportunities and challenges for Smart ICT
  • Smart platforms, on a broad range of technological platforms that enable the creation of products and processes supporting current and future developments in the digital world (Cloud Computing, Smart Cities, Green ICT)
  • Smart interactions, on interactions which enable smart interfaces taking into account environmental factors (Internet of Things & Sensor Networks, Smart Cyber Physical Systems & Robotics, Big Data and analytics, Digital Trust)
  • Internship and Certificate report

Classes take place on Belval Campus.
