Master in Space, Communication and Media Law (LL.M.)
Internship
Gaining practical experience is a key component of LL.M. studies at the University of Luxembourg. The University will provide assistance to students to find an internship (9 ECTS), benefitting from a network of local partners. Global satellite operator SES, as well as a number of e-commerce, telecommunications and internet companies, as well as broadcaster RTL, have their seat in Luxembourg.
A partnership with SES will allow top students to complete an internship of up to six months at the company, during which they can get in-depth insights into various legal aspects dealt with by a SatCom operator. Similar opportunities exist with other partners.
Students can opt not to do an internship and instead complete a more extensive Master thesis (10 + 9 ECTS). Internships can also be prolonged until the defence of the Master thesis, giving students the option to pursue an internship of 2, 2.5, 3 or 7 months.
Relevant extracurricular activities, conferences, seminars and workshops
- To further add to the curriculum, students have the possibility to take part in the following extracurricular activities, conferences, seminars and workshops:
- Annual Space and Satellite Communications Conference organised by the University of Luxembourg, bringing together top practitioners and academics from all over the world.
- Participation in the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court.
- Work in progress seminars and other conferences on topics related to the specialisation are regularly organised and open to students.
- Cooperation with SES and activities organised by the SES Chair in Space, SatCom and Media Law.
- Cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union.
