    LU

The University of Luxembourg is hosting the 12th International conference of the International Association of Word and Image Studies / Association Internationale pour l’Etude des Rapports entre Texte et Image. IAWIS/AIERTI seeks to foster the study of Word and Image relations in a general cultural context, and especially in the arts in the broadest sense.

“Water and Sea in Word and Image” has been selected as the conference topic. We are living in an era in which water scarcity is threatening us all and the mainland is affected even in the depths of its epicenter by what is happening on its shores, it felt important and necessary to propose this subject, both acutely topical and strongly tied to the collective imagination.

Keynote speakers are:

  • Marah Hardt (James Cook University, Australia, Research Director at Future of Fish): An Intimate Act: Sex, Sustainability, and the Future of Our Planet Ocean
  • Jean-Jacques Wunenburger (University Jean Moulin (Lyon III), France, Centre Gaston Bachelard de recherches sur l’imaginaire et la rationalité): Poétique de la mer, l’impensé bachelardien
