Weichun Chen, a Ph.D. student from College of Management and Economics, Tianjin University, China, who won the first prize of the China’s National Postgraduate Mathematical Contest in Modelling in 2014, is currently visiting the LCL.
Weichun’s research focuses on green supply chains, remanufacturing, dynamic decisions as well as behavioural operations management.
Inspired by the electric vehicle market, where governments around the globe offer different subsidy schemes, she is currently working with Prof. Benny Mantin on government’s policy making and supply chain members’ optimal production and pricing decisions.
Specifically, a key question she is interested in, is whether government should commit to future subsidy path to incentivize consumers to purchase early and induce firms to progress faster along the production learning curve, or should the government set the subsidy dynamically over time after observing the realized decrease of the production cost.
Before visiting the LCL, Weichun has explored lead time management in supply chains with risk-averse decision makers. Her research has been published in Journal of Cleaner Production and Managerial and Decision Economics.
