Florence D'Ath is a Doctoral Researcher and a Teaching Assistant at the Research Unit in Law of the University of Luxembourg (UL) and at the International and European Law Department of Maastricht University (UM). Her research focuses on the fundamental right to data protection and its interactions with other fundamental rights in the era information technologies. Prior to becoming a Doctoral Researcher, Florence had already conducted two research internships at the International Trade Committee of the European Parliament (INTA) and at Cape Town University (UCT).

In parallel, Florence is a member of the Brussels bar. She has been working as an attorney within the Litigation & Risk Management Practice Group of Loyens & Loeff since December 2014. She specializes in commercial law, intellectual property law and data protection law.

Academic background

Florence holds a LL.M. in International Economic Law and a LL.M. in European Law from Maastricht University (2014 – Cum Laude), and was granted an Honours Certificate for her successful participation in the Honours Research Track of UM. She also holds a Master in Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (2013 – Magna Cum Laude) and a Bachelor in Law from the Saint-Louis University (2011). During the second year of her Master’s degree, she studied at Waseda University (Tokyo) as part of an international study program.
