Dr Perrine Simon, who successfully defended her doctoral thesis in 2017, has been awarded the prestigious Prix Vendôme for her work.
Dr Simon carried out her doctoral research under the joint supervision of Prof. Stefan Braum (University of Luxembourg) and Prof. Édouard Dubout (Université Paris 2 – Panthéon Assas). Her thesis, “La competence d’incrimination de l’Union européenne. Recherche sur le pouvoir pénal européen”, investigates aspects of European criminal law under the Treaty of Lisbon.
The Prix Vendôme was presented to Dr Simon by French Justice Minister Nicole Belloubet at a ceremony in Paris in February. The prize is awarded by the Ministry and the public interest group “Mission de recherche droit et justice” in association with the “Revue Droit Pénal” published by Lexis Nexis.
In addition to the Prix Vendôme, Dr Simon has also been awarded the “Prix de la Chancellerie des Universités de Paris 2018”, one of 17 laureates in the law and political science group.
Dr Simon currently works as the University of Luxembourg liaison officer on site at the National University of Laos, managing operations of a cooperation project between both universities. The project is financed by the Luxembourg Ministry for Foreign Affairs and aims at capacity building in the field of legal scholarship, both in research and teaching.
