Abstract

What are the challenges that the exercise of certain fundamental freedoms on the Internet – and in particular freedom of expression – put today to those who study the relationship between constitutional law and new technologies?

What is the right balance between protecting the right to inform and being informed, and other freedoms of constitutional importance that inevitably run the risk of conflicting with each other when fake news and hate speech enter into the sphere of public law?

What are the most appropriate technological solutions to deal with these phenomena?

These are the main questions to which the speakers will try to give an answer, by analysing freedom of expression starting from its origins in contemporary constitutionalism and considering the evolving lines of the jurisprudence of the US Supreme Court and the European Courts, in the transition process of the exercise of fundamental rights and freedoms, from the world of atoms to that of bits.
