From walking around in a museum to surfing a virtual exhibition online? From using “old-fashioned” school books to learning with iPads?

In this ForumZ the C²DH invites you to a hands-on fair and discussion café where you can explore the impact of the digital transformation of society in the realms of education and research. The main focus will be on the question of how education, research and our engagement with cultural heritage are affected by processes of digitisation. How does this change our perceptions of the world? What challenges arise and is this something to be afraid of? Does a loss of physical contact to people and objects change our capacity for critical, and focused, thinking?

During an interactive hands-on fair for young and old, you can explore traditional and modern methods, presented by schoolteachers and professional educators, researchers and museum curators. Visitors will thus have the chance to explore the transformations which the digital revolution has brought to the educational and heritage sector. Little cafés will allow you to discuss if we should be afraid of the digital or not? During a final roundtable, professionals and visitors will discuss these developments together.
