The ESCH project is a collaboration between Nuit de la Culture and the PHACS-team of public historians at the University of Luxembourg to tell the history of the city through the personal memories and objects of the Escher community.

HistorESCH: Escher Geschichten a 25 Objeten erzielt (Histories of Esch told in 25 Objects) is an exhibition that will celebrate a year of engagement with the Escher community. The first phase of this project involved community workshops and crowdsourcing to collect photographs of potential objects to present at this exhibition. The second phase consisted of the categorisation of these objects by our Citizen Historian Circle (CHiC) and an online vote to select the objects for the exhibition.

The everyday objects bear witness to a personal approach to history. They tell the story of workers, sportsmen, or the distant past of the city. The free exhibition will showcase 25 of the most popular objects in the Pop-Up store in the shopping street of Esch-sur-Alzette. Each visitor will receive an exhibition catalogue in their preferred language (French, Luxembourgish or English) to read the personal anecdote and historical context of the object.

Opening hours

2 – 24 September, Monday – Saturday from 13.00-18.00.

Free entrance.
